PyCon Uganda Launch 2023

We are pleased to launch the very first Pycon conference for the pearl of Africa, Uganda.

PyCon Uganda is slated to take place from 21 - 23 September 2023 , at MoTIV, Kampala, Uganda. Today we launch our website, along with a registration, call for speakers and call for sponsorships.

About PyCon Uganda

PyCon Uganda is a PyCon organized by volunteers from the python developer community in Uganda. We aim to provide a platform for developers of all skill levels to learn from each other, share best practices, and explore new ideas and techniques in Python development.

Our focus is on creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where all attendees feel comfortable sharing their experiences and knowledge. We believe that diversity and inclusion are essential for building a strong and vibrant community, and we strive to create an environment that is welcoming to everyone.

We also aim to provide opportunities for attendees to connect and network with each other, both during the conference and beyond. PyCon is a great opportunity to meet new people and build lasting relationships within the Python community.

PyCon Uganda 2023 will be the inaugural edition of PyCon UG bringing together Python programming language enthusiasts in Uganda which includes software developers, data scientists, data analysts, tech companies among others.

So whether you are a beginner, an experienced Python developer or a tech company, we invite you to join us at PyCon Uganda and be a part of this dynamic and exciting event. We look forward to seeing you there!

Objectives of PyCon Uganda

  • To provide a platform for developers of all skill levels to learn from each other and share best practices

  • To provide a space for software developers to network with potential employers and share opportunity

  • To provide a space for relevant companies to showcase products that can be used by the technocrats to enhance productivity in their work.

  • To create an inclusive and welcoming environment where all attendees feel comfortable sharing their experiences and knowledge

Target Audience

We welcome all developers, from beginner to expert. We plan on putting together a stellar schedule that all levels of experience will gain from. Our team is working to invite quality speakers both local and international, along with attracting attendees with disparate experiences to foster meaningful networking.

Call For Speakers

We have curated a guideline for potential speakers, head over to our website and carefully read the speaker instructions and consider submitting a talk to our conference.

In the coming weeks, we will announce mentorship activities for new speakers who may want extra guidance on topic ideas and preparing the CFP submission. Once again speakers are what make a PyCon interesting.

Call for Sponsors

We plan to host 1000 Pythonistas in our country and from around the world. This means that for a successful conference we need funds to facilitate them. We call upon organizations and individuals alike to consider making a small donation or consider one  of the sponsorship packages on our website.

Code of Conduct

The safety of community members is one of the biggest pillars in our planning for PyCon Uganda. As such we have adopted the PSF and Python CoC and curated a thorough additional wording in our code of conduct that will guide attendees on how to interact with others. Feel free to reachout to us for any more feedback about our code of conduct.

We once again look forward to an exciting experience with PyCon Uganda, and feel free to reach out to the organizers at pyconug@pycon.org .
